Has anyone ever replaced sprocket wheels on JD450 without breaking the track?
Just looking at it, I'm thinking that by letting all the grease out and getting all the slack possible maybe I could hold the slack up off the sprockett and remove it without having to drive out the pin.

Have you ever done this?

I'm not sure at all if a 450 works like a 440, but I just took my sprocket off without breaking the track. I did like you said, got all the slack out of the track, and then I jacked up the back end of the dozer as high as a bottle jack would let me and then took a sledge hammer and whacked the track from the inside to push it out and away from the dozer at the bottom. Then by using a large prybar and some wood pieces I was able to lift the track up enough to be able to slip the sprocket free from axle and out. I'd already about beat myself to death trying to get out that king pin and was mighty happy when I felt that spocket come free. Like I said, a 450 might be totally different, but it worked on my 440.

Must break the track. Not overly difficult with help from a Buddy & a torch. Jim

I have replaced sprockets on a 450c with out breaking the track. Unbolt the sproket after removing the grease this allows the sprocket to move forward and out of the track. Then place the sprocket in the track and realine the bolts. A lot easier said than done but not too difficult. good luck and HAPPY THANKSGIVING
