I've got a '68 model 450 crawler that apparently had either a backhoe or more likely a ripper attachment at some time in its life. When I bought the machine it did not come with any attachments but unfortunately it does not have the counterweight either! If you were in North Carolina I'd be interested in your old counterweight. I think these things are on the order of 1100 lbs so it does not sound practical from a shipping standpoint.

I've got bigger problems with the 450 at the moment anyway. It's got a 188 Diesel that has started having a LOT of blowby from the valve cover vent. I noticed last time I started it that there was a lot of smoke and it did not sound like it was running on all 4 cylinders. Its not making the kind of power it should. Time to pull the head and put in a cylinder kit from the sounds of it.

Best of luck,
John

I have just finished adapting a case model 33 backhoe attachment to my JD 350 crawler with JD backhoe brackets. It was not easy as the case unit is slightly different width than the jd. I ended up narrowing the case about 3/4 inch to fit. Lots of cutting and welding 3/4 inch plate steel!
If you tried to use the JD brackets you would have to modify them - not easy as they are very thick steel.
Stick with case parts if you can. Case made a set of brackets for the 450 - model 33 backhoe. Case parts catalog C995 shows this adapter. If you want I can email you a copy of the page from the catalog.
Good luck
