Have a chance to pickup a bobcat 743B (1991) with a tired motor (6050 hours). Rebuilding quote from my machine shop that I have used before is $2,500-3,000. I also have the local Bobcat dealer looking into a new motor price and rebuilt motor price. I know that gatractorman has spoke of the 743B in the past, so I'm looking for anything else I need to look at before making them an offer. What else in high ticket expenses should I take into consideration?

Thanks!

Mike

Hi, I have our 632 Bobcat apart right now. SPENDY!! The drive motors are leaking, and a JOB to get those puppys outa there! Dealer said they are Ross motors, no parts anymore, just seal kits. Then he calls me back, and he says, Motors are bad.....two new ones $1,800!!!!! !HUH?? So, I start looking around, and I find a guy who can shave $155. bucks off that. Then in the Farm Show paper I find a fellow in Pa. that says they can rebuild these motors! But shipping etc. dunno Still looking around. Then, one frt axle was leaking, so as long as its apart...unreal to try and get the axle out! I have a 2in. ram to get between the axles and no luck yet! Very handy machine....BUT...The manuals are needed.Pull the frt plug on the chain case...if overfull, seals in the motors are shot. I sure don't what to sound down, but facts are facts. have a grt day. Bob

Bobmn posted a note he has a 632 bobcat in need of parts. I have a 632 that was damaged by a (gas tank)fire the motor compartment has only minor damage and most of the damage is to the hoses under the floor I belive all of the internal componets are still good . I was thinking of restoring it but its to much expense for all the hoses it is rolling on all tires now I live in south fla and if you want to come get it I will part with it for the $250 I paid for it..John

Hydrostatics would be the next high ticket item that could cause extreme poverty...
