Did Drotts use an IH 164 cid engine?

I just purchased a complete engine the seller said came out of a Drott loader. I am trying to help a friend's Dad rebuild a Farmall H and the engine looks very close. I checked the forum archives and did't see any mention of Drott using an engine that small. The engine I bought is in the original yellow paint, sits on a cast belly pan frame complete with a front driven hydraulic pump. Any ideas on what I have and will it work? It was too dark to get a casting number yet. Thanks

Actually a 164 cid would be a super H, the H was a 152 cid i think.

The BTD6 had a 264 diesel engine...not sure if that's the info you need. The 264 were used in some UK/Australian IH units....I'm wrecking one now.

Seann is right about Drott putting their loaders on a variety of tractors. Their 4-n-1 loader seems to be very widespread throughout the country. Lots of TD 340"s and T 340"s had them. Ihave a TD 340 with the 4-n-1, and it has an IH D166 engine. The T 340 might have had a Continental Z 134, but I"m not positive on that one. You might go back and ask the seller what model tractor this engine came out of, who made the engine and what the displacement is. If he doesn"t know those answers, watch out. Good luck with it,
Jim

As far as I know Drott didn't build a complete loader per se. International, AC and other manufacturers built their crawler/tractors and then subcontracted Drott to provide the loader frame/assembly (which includes the frame, hydraulics, mechanical arms, bucket etc).

I have an International 150 crawler loader that has a Drott loader on it. It's a 1969 and came with a 282 diesel engine (which was also used in a wide variety of International farm equipment). The motor you refer to is probably from a much smaller and perhaps older machine; maybe a TD6? (I'm not familiar with it) If you go over to the Redpower site, someone there will almost certainly know about this motor and it's compatibility with your farmall.

Good luck
