I have a JDMC that I restored a couple years ago and now have an opportunity to buy a decent Cletrac HG42 that needs a restoration, mostly cosmetic with minor mechanical fixing. Just curious as to the collectibily of the Cletrac vs the MC Are they of equivilent value in equal conditon? What are the strong points of the Cletrac vs the mc?

Just a few obvious ones - the Cletrac has no steering clutches to get stuck or worry about like the MC - but - the Cletrac is way too fast in its lowest gear for pushing dirt unless an aux. transmission is installed whereas the MC is geared quite nicely. MC has overhead valves which makes the engine a little more efficient than the flathead Hercules in the Cletrac. MC is a more rugged machine but, in my experience, used parts are much easier to find for the Cletrac.
