I just purchased a Komatsu PC 60-5 Excavator that needs a track adjuster re-packed. Anyone have any hints for a rookie. Thanks.

Those are pretty simple. I would suggest you have your Komatsu dealer fax a parts breakdown if you don't have the parts book.

It involves removing the track and pulling the front idler. The recoil comes out with the idler and the adjuster cylinder is at the end of the spring. You will be able to tell from the parts breakdown where the seals are. As I recall the cylinder is part of the recoil assembly and the piston is has the grease fitting. You will probably see a groove or broken chome on the piston so you will have to evaluate whether or not that needs to be repaired.

Going back to gether is just a reverse.

Good Luck!
