HD5 is basically the same machine as the HD6 - but the 6 has a different engine. Allis got in a feud with Detroit Diesel and started using Buda engines. The HD6 has the Buda 344 four-stroke-cycle diesel engine. Tracks are the same pitch for both, but in either machine they come in different lengths. Some use 33 pads per track; some 37, etc. Berco has new pads available but only in 18" width (as far as I know). $19 each. In a pinch, guess you can cut them down. I come across used tracks fairly often for loaders with flat pads (semi-grouser). I need some dozer pads with high grousers. My pads are curled over so I don't think it's worth trying to weld on new grouser stock. HD5A and HD5B are supposed to be 33 pads per track. HD5F and HD5G are supposed to be 37 pads per track. HD6 was supposed to be as follows: 6A before #5100 - 33 pads. 6A after 5100 - 34 pads, 6B before 5100 - 33 pads, 6B after 5100 - 34 pads, 6E, 6EP, 6PS - 37 pads, 6F,6G - 39 pads. 13" wide pads was standard on all of them. 10"s, 12"s, and 14"s were also available. They came as semi-grouser (loader), full gouser, snow & ice cut-out grouser. Bolt on protective plates were also available for street use, part # 235926.
