Repower For TD-9 91 Series

I"ve got a TD-9 91 Series dozer that is in pretty good condition with the exception of the motor - it"s stuck. This is the 4 cylinder gas/diesel engine.

I"d like to replace it with an automotive engine - small block V-8? I"ve seen a few IH Model M tractors that have been retrofitted with V-8"s, but what about in one of these small dozers? Nothing high performance, just want to use something that is cheap as well as easy to get parts for.

Since the TD-9 uses an SAE bellhousing, can I get away with using any engine that bolts up to that size SAE? How about adapter rings? Does anyone know who makes adapters? So far my searches on the web have found nothing on this.

I"ve also got an older Versatile tractor that I"d like to repower, but that"s another story.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks, Eddie, but I really don"t know if the bellhousings are the same. I would think that the TD-14 would use a larger clutch assembly/bellhousing than the TD-9s.

I"ve been soaking the TD-9 engine for a while now, I guess I"ll try turning it over by pull starting it with another tractor.

I"ll also try checking the Red Power forum for repower info.

Thank You.
