Undercarriage looks shot by the looks of the track pads cant tell from the pic but I would bet it needs spocket segments maybe you could do a "turn job" on the pins and bushings but the pads would still be worn undercarriage work is expensive I have personally changed the "drive motors" for the hystat drive on these models they have been known to give trouble during hard use looks like this machine has seen some I think the price is too high for a machine with a possibly "dubious" history and DONT EVER BELIEVE AN HOURMETER'

Jeremy,
In case you were not at the auction, I THINK it ended up bringing $23,500. Don"t quote me on that as I was in the back and may have written down the wrong number. I was not interested in any equipment, just mainly went because I like to see all of it. I watched 3 nice tractors, (Ford 3000, MF 135, Ford 3000) all diesels, sell for less than I was willing to pay. I need to learn to keep my hands out of my pockets.

Have a good day.

Jeremy,

Is this dozer at M&M in Anderson? I think that if you keep looking you can find a better machine for the money, if time is not an issue.

It would be wise to have the undercarriage measured and percentage worn verified, unless those are other than grouser type pads, they look worn smooth in the photo, the chain looks stretched, but that can't be fairly stated from a photo. The only other thing I can add is to check the history on it, if you can find anything about it's maintenance history, curious to see how many hours the meter shows. Not sure about that series with Hystat, don't know much about it, but have read mixed reports, best to see if you can find someone who is familiar with the series especially on operation, maintenance, and service life. I'm sure someone out here in YT land will have some advice, the price seems affordable, wonder why it's up for sale ?

I think they are a good dozer but that one has done quite a bit of work. It looks like the cutting edge is about ready for replacing and been turned. Grouser bars are worn down prety low and the chains quite worn by the look of where the idlers are.

Gotta agree, looks tired.Have to measure or have someone exp. look it over.Just by a pic is hard to do,but sounds a bit high. But hey,its Cat w/ new paint, looks good, lol.Seriously, thats why I like to see them b-4 paint. Not that anyone's trying to hide something, but?Doesn't happen to be in Wayland, does it?

Any idea on the year and fair market value? I was thinking Hydrostatics started somewhere around 1998.
