Over the last several months I have beeb looking for a Cat 7E or a D8H both desired to be in good shape. While looking,I have come across a IH TD 20E,approximately a 1984, which is in excellent condition. It is my understanding that this machine has an inherent tendancy to throw a rod through the block or spin a main, besides the availability of good used parts and after market is suspect. Can anyone give me the heads up.

In all my years of working on tractors and other equipment and from my younger years working for a vary large construction co. that had it all there are three dozers that i would never have , 1 is a Allis chalmers ,2 is and International we had them all cat's a/c's and IH's and Euclidt we had more problems with them then the Cat's and tryen to find parts for the ones that are no longer made is a nightmare. When i went to work in the Oil field the company that i worked for had one of the first 750 Deeres , i thought that this was going to be a pice of junk , boy was i wrong i fell in love with it the first dozer that i was ever on that would work as fast as i wanted to and do more then i ever thought i could run circles around the D6D's pull more winch while tracken get in and out of places that would stick a Cat And i bet that machine just to see if it would break .Dresser was tryen to sell dozer in the patch and brought me two to try had a TD8E and it would not hold a candel to our 450C then they brought me a TD15 with a winch and it was a joke.
