Hello gentleman and ladies,

I have a '63 international td 25 diesel dozer and it runs like a top. I need to replace the cables on it. It has the winch on the back and the cables run along side to the front to the three wheeled pullies. Any pointers? Help me out? Is there anything else I need to be careful about this rig...burning the winch clutches?
Thanks to all that reply.

Dan from cold Minnesota. (windy and -10degrees)

I have a 52 TD18A with cable that runs above cab. I have replaced the cable twice and its pretty easy on my machine. The cable is held on the rear winch by two bolts and a plate. Route the cable back through all the pulleys. The cable is held onto the front blade by a wedge on my dozer. After that its just a matter of starting it and winding the slack onto the drum. Make sure you wear gloves, frayed cables can "get" you pretty good.

Hi, TD25International. I don't know the exact length of cable you need to replace that but I have found - in the dim and distant past - that if you can smoothly oxy-acetylene weld the end of the new cable to the old end that you take off the winch drum, you can then drag it all the way through all the pulleys by using a tractor or even a car with a tow ball attached to the blade end once you undo it. On some machines, it can be done the other way around too. Makes life a lot easier and can save a lot of spiking of hands on the old cable. Unfortunately, it doesn't work once you have broken the old cable.

Happy re-newing.

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.
