Hello Gerald,I had one of those, and worked on others, those machines give trouble on the clutch shaft slip-rings,the rings are lose in there grooves, also the charge pump can get worn to the point that oil preasure is low when hot, with a gauge you should check main trans press when it is cold and again when hot, good place to start,E mail me if you need more help-----Joe.

Hi I seen on the the discussion forum, you said you had worked on John Deere 555.I was wondering what you had to do to fix it when you had loose clutch shaft slip rings. On the one I have the shafts seem alright but thier is a groove in the collector where it sits over the ring. The rings are wore some but I have not been able to find any specs. Also John Deere has a oversize kit on the rings but they say that they are for machining the shaft but not the collectors. They do not seem to know much more than I do anyway the guy I talked to.Thanks Gene

First ensure the oil levels ok..then when its running good...dig a large hole and drive the machine into it...fill in the hole and don't look back...eventually you'll thank me for this !!...
remove the filter canister and look whats inside..
its usually a combination of worn parts in the transmission and worn parts in the steering clutches...all total...verrry expensive...and lots and lots of labor...usually....
