This eve is the first time I opened the crawler board, and one of the first things I found was a very very rude post. I never read only a few lines and decided that perhaps it is not in my best intrest to even read onward or get involved. I hang around the JD, IH, and AC board in yt, and do not recal any rude posts. Thus I hope that this was just a bad day for some, perhaps their mother in law had just arrived for a long visit or something like that. OR BETTER YET A JOKE, OR KIDDING THAT I DID NOT UNDERSTAND. After all I ain't the sharpest tool in the shed ---- ANYWAY I just purchased a Melroe M200 tricycle model skid loader. I got a owners manual from Melroe, but the book gives no referance to the SN/ location, lifting capacity,or any thing involving the engine. The color of the 1st coat of paint is yellow and red. Perhaps some of you know something that I should know as far as maintinance and part interchangability. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Sorry if I am on the wrong board. Thanks guys and have a nice day. Dave NE Iowa

Dave

I am in NW IA. I have one of the single cylinder wisconsin versions. Mine was sold by Farmhand. Acording to the serial number it was the 7th one Farmhand sold or at least put a SN on.

The Farmhand units had the serial # on the RH drive coverplate. The Melroe units had it on the RH loader support arm or I think some may have had it on the dash. Not all of the Melroe units had SN's. I do have a couple of Original OM's. When I bought one from Melroe all they had was a parts book. Also have some sales lit on the farmhand version.

Have fun with your new toy. They are fun to drive when they are working right. Care needs to be taken though they can get away from you. Also don't expect to move much dirt.

BTW what drive tires does yours have? I would like to find a set of LEE Silent Drive's for mine. One other item to note here is some of those drivers were filled with powdered lead from the factory.

According to Joe Gross who knows quite a bit about these units the proper colors were IH 2150 red with gloss black rims and the engines were painted the appropiate factory color for the engine company. Gray for Wisconsin, green for Onan.

HTH and don't be afraid to drop me a line I would be willing to talk more.

jt

I am looking for information regarding a melroe m200 three wheeler I am trying to restore. As of today, I have located most of the information I need and have done much of the restoration, however, am looking for any information regarding the paint colors from 1958-1963 that would have been used on the m200. I am also looking for the decals and a wiring diagram for the M200. Any information would help. I am also looking for a listing that indicates what serial numbers were produced what year and how many were produced each year. It has been difficult to get information from Melroe.

Thanks Bob, R U anyware near NE IOWA? What engine do you need? probably a Onan. Do you have yours painted, decals etc. Melro dealer said Bobcat Co. gave him the reprinted manual,(it gives exact hose dementions) but dealer also stated it was very hard to talk to the Co. unless you are a dealer. Do you know where your SN/ is located? And a big thanks again. Dave NE IOWA

I'm in north central North Dakota.

I have a copy of the original operator's manual. I can't remember how detailed it is, as I haven't looked at it in quite a while.

If I recall, the S.N. MAY be somewhere around the RH loader support, maybe on a LITTLE plate. I'll look tomorrow.

Yes, apparently it should have an Onan engine. Mine has a much more modern Kohler Magnum 18.

I haven't painted it up, and probably won't, as I have lost interest in it. I've been keeping my eyes open for the correct engine, to put in when I sell it, or I may just advertise it the way it is in the spring.

Thanks guys, I was unaware of the Farmhand Co. being involved. Bob I'm dealing on a snow blower that is made for a smaller skid loader, probably mid 70s. It has its own Onan motor if I recal correctly. I tried to buy it 15 years ago. It has only run 2-3 hrs in its intire life---not a sales line as I have heard the story---skid loader was way to wide for the blower. If it is the correct one for you, and I decide it is not a big deal to keep the blower engine original, I will not have much invested. I have not looked at it for at least 10 years, and is about 1/2 mile from me. We can talk later. I am having major problems with my computer, and not sure if I can resist throwing it off the water tower, just in case I don't respond. Thanks Dave NE IOWA
