looking at a 3514 diesel hoe to use around the farm. anyone here have much experence with them? what to look out for. problem areas. guy wants $6500, everything is tight, not worn at all, just a little rusty. I haven't driven it yet. Its hydro-static drive, are they good. Thanks a lot for any help.

The 3400 and 3500 hoes were a difficult tractor to work with, especially the hydro trans. Make sure you get the tractor hot and completely check the trans. They were complicated for the dealers to fix--even for the best dealers. They were heavy tractors compared to thier competition--kinda gaulky. Parts would be hard to find!!!!

Although I am a die-hard IH
man, I have to agree with George.
I looked at one awhile back and
did some research. When that inevitable
day comes when a significant replacement
part is needed it will not be availabile.
Consider that in your decision. And they
were not produced in the large numbers
that other manufacturers did so they will be scarce to find in the bone-yards.

Bigdiesel, I think that is way too much to pay for an orphan . When Dresser bought the payline group from IH the backhoe line didn't go with it , backhoe line was dropped , some parts are becoming
extinct.
