I know what the idlers are...the rollers...the chain...just where are the rails in all of this?

Rails, chains, the term seems to be interchangable depending on who your talking to.

The rails are the links with pins and bushings installed. The rails are the carrier of the pads or commonly called shoes. Rails are the part that goes around the front idler and pulled by the rear sprocket. Makes it all go around.
