Is the Caterpillar 3114 engine rebuildable or is it just a consume and throw away engine?
What is the history of this engine any good?

They are rebuildable Bob. I would recomend getting the block dry sleeved back to standard though. Get the head done and replace the copper injector sleeves. The injectors should be replaced with exch if you can move the rack when they are out of the engine. They need to be compressed a bit to move if good. That engine will last a long time if taken care of, supprised me how long. You need a lot of tools to set up the injectors though.
