Does the drive transmission on a 1977 model 555A use these same hydraulic fluid (from the same oil tank on the side of the machine) for the drive transmission? or is there a seperate place to check the transmission fluid?
The problem is that I am loosing transmission pressure, according to the gauge, when I am on hill, and machine does not want to pull out. there is plenty fluid in the side hydraulic fluid tank, and the lift hydraulics still work fine evem when machine is on an angle and want move.
Again, the machine doesnt want to move when it gets on an angle.

After you let it roll back down and cool off the machine then picks back up and seems to operate o.k

Also, the hydraulic fluid appear milky in the hydraulic fluid tank?

Theres a dipstick under the seat for the transmission...Do a search on here for deere 550 and 555 transmissions...thats what you have to look forward to if the oil and filter hasnt been tended to in recent history
