I've been starting my 440 off a 12 volt battery since I bought it as thats what it had in it. I now want to convert it to a 12 volt system. Based on your experiences what is the best alternator to use that will present the least problems.

We converted out 440IC years ago. We used a single wire Delco and have never had any problems with it. I don't remember exactly what we had to do to get it to bolt up, but once it's in place you run one wire and your done.
