hey, I need some Caterpillar help ! I have a d-4 cat loader 7u serial number. Problem I am having is I am getting EXCESSIVE amounts of fuel in the engine oil. I changed the oil and filter and ran maybe 1/2 hr between warm up and time to move it to the building and the oil looked like pure diesel fuel. Any suggestions or ideas would help.

I'm going with whats on a D2 5U, they don't have fuel return lines for the excess fuel at idle so they just drop it on the ground could they be plugged or damaged? Another possibiity would be a bad injector dumping raw fuel into engine. Good luck Allan

If the tractor is running good I would say that you do not have an injector out. Rather I think that your shaft seals are out on your fuel transfer pump. This pump is located underneath the fuel injection pump. It should have an drain tube but it could be plugged, if this is the case the fuel will go into the engine. In order to fix you would have to drop the pump and install new seals and maybe a shaft. This should take care of the problem.

Have you checked the fuel transfer pump seals?
