I am in the UK and have never known a JCB with a gas engine, first models were built on a Fordson Major diesel tractor, then a Nuffield with a BMC diesel engine and then went on to a purpose built chassis for a backhoe and used a Perkins engine, their latest machines are fitted with their own engine, to help ID the machine there should be a plate with all the info on the front loader frame on the right, if its missing, which way do the cab doors open, do they slide or open out backwards, what kind of transmission has it got, some were manual with a clutch, some were manual gearbox with a torque converter and some had a shuttle shift, the 3C would have a number like Mk1/Mk2 or Mk3,big difference between the models. Which of the machines in the picture does yours look like
