What finally happened?? Did you get it shut off, or did it blow ??? It would have been worth calling the fire dept, I guess. They would have had some CO2 or Halon-type extingushers. A trucker told me about a turbo leak on a Cummins, he hauls fuel, so he has plenty of extinguishers, he used them all but engine still ran til everything inside got bent or broken.. it finally ground to a stop.

Likely too late now but I think the turbo is fueling it with engine oil. Later Bob

its still running !!! shut of the air still runs shut of fuel still runs but i keep adding engine oil so it doesnt blow up the bottom end it has slowed down to regular top speed and the manifold
you can see through it it seems to be running okay though any ideas i tried running it up to a cement block to stall it but it drove through the block and pulled it out of the ground i really dont know what to do i cant really get to close to the engine any more because it is so hot
the temp gauge is reading right on the edge of the extreme but it hasnt boiled over i would like to stop it though as my neighbours are freaking out from the sound as it is louder than normal i think it blew the muffler baffles out help me get this thing stopped i am out of ideas?

RUNNING ON CRANKCASE VAPORS? BAD NEWS! SHUT DON in reply to chris thompson, 01-29-2005 06:14:22
If the machine is running on crankcase vapors you may be starving the engine for oil. NOT GOOD!

It sounds as though it is running on crankcase vapors. Cut off the air supply soon or engine damage may result. I think that we used to use a CO2 fire extinguisher to shut down a runaway Detroit once. You want to shut it down soon before engine damage from oil starvation results.
