Skid Loader Security

A few weeks ago we had a set of skid loader pallet forks stolen off the job, and we've also noticed that someone tried to get into our backhoe (we keep an old 20' logging chain on the floor in the cab for pulling dump trucks out of the mud, we think thats what they were after). Anyway, we took the backhoe off the job, and have been keeping the skid loader locked in the garage of the job, with the new forks chained to the loader. After looking in the manual, we've been disabling the electric system so no one can run it but us, even with a case key.

My question is what do you guys do to keep the different skidder tools and equipment from walking away?

We're in a very rural area, not Baltimore city. Up til now, we've never had any problems with things walking, although we dont leave anything on job thats not locked up.

quik-detach forks? drop forks & park on them or drive other machinery on'em. Used to do this to tire chains & choker cables. Either that or shoot the 3 closest theives. One of them was responsible & the other 2 wont be missed.

I have a JD 24 skidloader..I made a couple of flip down metal forks that have eyelets on the end of forks. I flip these forks down and put a long padlock thru the eyelets. these forks are on a thick hinge that I welded onto the top of chain box. If they can't move the levers , they can't get the machine. I had a Hobart Welder on a job, just to find in the morning, someone had removed the fuel cap and pissed into the fuel tank./ I now have locks on everything....Good Luck
