I've got a lead on a JD 450 with 6 way blade haven't been able to find out the year but the owner thinks its a early 60's. He's used it on his farm and did brush and small tree clearing. It's been maintained but I don't yet know the hours on it. He's owned it since new.I'm supposed to check it out and try it out this weekend. Thanks

If it's early 60s, it's not a "C" series. 450 replaced the 2010 and came out around 1966 or 67. I know where there's a 450 for sale right now with 6-way blade, pretty good undercarriage, but the HL-R starts to slip when it gets hot. The guy is asking $4100 for it. The later 450s first got bigger engines, then got turbos with the "Bs." When the "C" series came out wet steering clutches were introduced.

In my area (East Central MO), a straight 450 with a six-way would go for about $7500-10,000 , depending on condition. Alot of people don't care as much for them because of the dry steering clutches, but I wouldn't worry if they are working fine now. Just run it periodically to keep them loose. The 450 was a very popular machine around here for a long time, alot of them still working hard. Hope this helps.
