Hello Jed. I have a 1958 TD-9 91 series. Works very well for me. Like some have said, it is 40 years old, so you need to keep the maint up, watch temps etc, and it will work for years. I bought mine from someone who kept things in order, good clutches, newly replaced rear main seal, and all adjustments were up to date. Good paint too. I paid $5,500 for it. Yeah, abit on the high side. But it has cused me ZERO grief for the last 3 1/2 years. Just runs great. On;y smokes when I load it up hard. Plenty of power for what I need it for. I use mine on steep logging roads. Has a 9 foot 4-way blade. I can do a u-turn on an 8 foot wide road. that drops forever on the downside. Stick to the daily maintenance and it will run forever.

A TD9 is a waste of money. They are worn out and your chances of getting a good one are slim to none. Guys will tell you that there are plenty of parts available, but there is a reason for that. For every one running you need 4 donors.

The older ones start on gas and switch over to diesel after warming up to operating temp. If the previous operator was not careful about cooling the eng down in the proper manner they were prone to have cracked heads. My friend has a older td9 like the type I described. I have a 1960 model td9 92 series with a straight 6 turbo diesel 282 cu inches that I like. It has 1 shifting lever with 4 forward gears and 2 reverses in the trans. some parts are hard to find for td9s. Sorry to sound negative but I think its best to know all you can before you commit to a purchase this big.

Thanks to everyone for their help. The TD9 that I did look at starts on gas and convert over to ds. The owner says everything works . He thanks the main clutch sticks or out of ajustment.Track pins sprocket all look good to me.The dozer has been sitting awail, years 3 he says runs well. I have not heard it run yet . He wants 4500 for it. Will it dig a pound in rocky soil ?
