Just purchased a JD 420 with a seven foot blade. Can someone tell me the weight of this machine? Thanks.

Mine has the 62 6' inside mount blade and weighs in a little over 7000 pounds.

Thanks for the information. I'm the Russ who inquired about a JD 40 a month ago and you gave me some excellent information. Changed my mind and bought a 420 that isn't quite as nice but half the money. It appears in good condition. The weight is more than I thought and may be too much for my car hauler. Do you by chance know the weight without the blade? I don't think I'll have a problem with the bare crawler. Thanks for your help. Russ

A basic 420, 4-speed, 4-roller frame, 10" tracks, no guards , etc (a minimum model), is 4,000 pounds. They can hit 10,000 pounds with all options, a loader, 3-pt and ripper attached.

These machines had a list of options as long as your arm. My model 62 6' heavy blade (not including the frame) weighs near 1000 pounds by itself. I know, as I had it off once propped up against a tree and it fell over. It took four of us to pick it back up against the tree, and half the weight was still on the ground. Every option adds more weight.

You'd probably be right at the limit of a 2-axle (3500 pound axles are one most of them) car hauler to move a base model. Then, how do you get the blade and frame home without the machine to move it for you?

I guess I should add: good luck! :-)
