I've been getting a TD14 going for a guy at work. It supposedly operated when parked about 10 years ago. I've managed to get it running, runs great, but won't move, the PTO spins w/the engine clutch out. Is there any hope that steering clutches just need adjustment? If it needs steering clutches is it time to give up on the old girl? how likely is it that both steering clutches wore the same?

If I remember correctly, isn't there a plate on the back of the tractor, where the PTO shaft would go if so equipped? By removing the plate, I believe you should be able to see whether the pinion gear is moving the main ring gear. I may be confusing this with another tractor, but you might check it.

If it were parked with the levers pulled back then the clutches are probably stuck in the released position and will probably have to come out to be freed up.

So with it in any gear (try reverse as well), you pull the clutch lever back and "nothing" happens? That would indeed be odd unless something is amiss with the transmission. For both steering clutches to be completely worn out would be highly unusual. Both steering clutch levers should be in a forward position as well. When you pull back on them, is there a resistance? Sounds like it is not in gear.. Might also post this at>Link

Yes it is absolutely in gear, when you let the engine clutch out it spins the pto and if you put it in 2nd 3rd or any high range you can hear the gears spinning. Is it possible for the springs to collapse? what if it had been parked with th levers pulled back? Thanks

Me Thinks possibly Pinion or ring gear if clutches slip but unless they were tyed back they generaly stick and won't release. If pto turns trans still could also have problem as pto goes straight through. Try Red Power Mag
