My 1982 JD 544C has a steady drip drip from the fuel injector pump and using a mirror I can see behind it is coming from around the throttle shaft. The parts book shows two o rings. Will these be a nightmare to replace after I remove the pump. Pump Removal is explained quite well in the service manual but there is nothing about the pump. Or should I go the big bucks route and take it to the JD Shop?

The top cover does have to be removed to do it,-theres a small clip that keeps the arm to the shaft.

I changed the O-rings on my 544B without removing the pump from the engine. It was a real tight squeeze, but the shaft will clear the frame rail by rotating the pump body... mark it first so you can put it back in the same spot. It's no big deal to change the O-rings themselves. Note; this was a "B", but I would guess they were pretty much the same. Steve/MN
