Well, how can anyone argue with someone named DOZER? Bob is correct. TA was available for the 340 and the 340A models. My parts catalog has very nice photos of the T-340 and T-340A as wellas the TD-340 and TD-340A. The pics show that the 340's had 4 rollers and a spoked front idler, 340A's had 5 rollers, and a webbed front idler. Seial numbers for the 340's were 501-5395. Serial numbers for the 340A's were 5396 and up. Hope that helps. They must be pretty durable little tractors. Mine sat out for eight years without running when I got hold of it. Cleaned out the injector pump and installed new seals and gaskets there, adjusted the steering clutches and brakes, had the starter rebuilt and away we went. Been running for over a year now with no problems.

The A is for torque amplifier (TA) equipped 340's. There's no difference in the operator's manuals. I have a 1960 model TD 340. I think that I got my operator's manual from Binders, But it could have been from DRESSER. The manual number is 1 085 813 R1 May 1975(82) Only half a page devoted to TA operation.

I don't know the answer to your question, but I thought you might like to see these brochure pics. Enjoy...
