JD 550 trans problems

So it looks like i might be working on jd 550 in the near future.

Serial # is 369055T would this be a 550c? and what year?


Trans feels like its half way in gear would this be the converter or the clucth disc?

Sheezzzzz, The last one I did was 9600.00 in parts and labor... The one before I switched into a 450 D. I took out the power shift trans and switched it into an HLR machine from a donor 450-C.. Both are big jobs..Good Luck

Probably a 550 ... there never was a 550C...550-550B-550G-550H and now 550J.. Its a possibility its the converter.but probably a combination of a lot of worn out internal parts !!..they don"t have a conventional "clutch disc". They had a clutch pack assembly for all the speeds as well as forward and reverse... Very expensive for parts and what you usually end up with is a bulldozer thats worth half of the money you invested in repairing it. If the transmission is bad, and the oil contaminated, then you better prepare yourself to repair the steering clutches too.
