For the serial # range that bobdozer mentioned, the block casting number is 367727R2. I think it is found just below the top of the block where it joins the head.

On the 135 crawler engine serial number 11391 to 100500 the head has nine bolts after that they switched to a 14 bolt cylinder head they also went to a one piece rear main and a few other changes.

Hi, I replaced my T340 engine about a year ago - same problem, left plain water in it. The casting number on the block is the key to finding the correct engine. The c-135 was used in the 340 and a couple swathers and combines of the '60's era. I bought a rebuilt block and had the valves ground on the old head. That seemed to be the cheapest alternative, rather than buying an old block and rebuilding it. I'll try to find the specs on the casting number and other info. Ray

The T-340 and the 340 Tractor share the same Engine,Gas or Diesel.A replacement Engine should be no problem.

Be carefull not all 135 engines will fit as the back of the block has a different bolt pattern to the bell housing

The same engine was definitely used in some of the ag tractors from the same era. I think the engine model is C-135. You can probably track it easily on the redpower (IHC) web site. Many other parts were interchangeable too.
