Does anyone know of another forum site that is dedicated just to skidsteers. I have been reading this site for quite a while and have gained lots of good information. But I am now in the market to buy a skidsteer and figure there has to be a forum somewhere that is just about skidsteers.

I am looking at a CAT 257, but they have some roller problems (but I like the hand controls verses the foot controls of a Bobcat) Also considering ASV, but can"t find many others who have experience with these models. Didn"t like John Deere when I rented one - the bucket control was too jumpy. Haven"t tried New Holland, yet.

I was hoping to find a site where contractors or others can help with hands-on experience and/or horror stories. Any thoughts or forum suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Hello,Well, I have a Bobcat, but there doesn't seem to be much else out there. Go to www.bobcatforum.com Is a fairly new web site, and you might find someone on the site to get a answer from. Good Luck Bob

Keg,

I've got an ASV RC100. So far I've put about 175 hours on it and don't have many compaints. The machine seems robust and I haven't had any track problems, even in deep mud. I've been using it for brush clearing with a Davco cutting deck, moving logging slash to burn piles, and then lots of work moving chunks of concrete with a grapple. My only complaints are 1) the fuel cap isn't protected enough and as a result I lost one and cracked a second one in half backing into some brush and 2) the grease points for the truck pivot bearings on the undercarriage are supposed to be greased daily, but they are a pain to get to with the mud buildup in the track area. They really should have put in hard greaselines to these pivots and put the grease zerks up in a more protected/clean location. Those are my only complaints. In terms of ease of use, I had been debating between the RC100 and one of their smaller machines. I'm extremely glad I went with the RC100 because of the greater lift capacity but mostly because of the increased ground speed which has made the work I'm doing much quicker.

Hope that helps.

I'm happy with the 2810 ASV. Rubber tracks aren't as good as dozer cleats going up a steep slope with a load, but close. Like dozer tracks, mud will freeze up in sprocket & lock things up, if you dont shovel it clean when it freezes.

I don't know of any skid steer specific sites. If hand controls are what you want, look at a Gehl. The left T-Bar controls drive and the right T-Bar controls boom and bucket. Very instinctive to learn. Solid Machines with strong factory support.
