How do I gauge the wear / condition of the tracks , rollers , etc. on a John Deere 420 C

I think the best way is remove a track and see what is loose and what isnt. See if you can wiggle the track from side to side like a snake.That will tell you if the pins/bushings are worn. Carl.

Are you saying that you should not be able to wriggle the tracks side to side like a snake at all or you should not be able to wriggle them excessively or beyond some degree???

If in perfect condition they should"nt move side to side hardly at all. If you curv them and the pads almost touch then its deffinatly time for track work. They should be pretty stiff.
