To answer your question, I just did a little more digging in the parts catalog for the 340 series crawlers. The diesels (TD340, TD340A) and the later gas T340A were 12 volt. The earlier gas models, T340, up to ser. no. 5395 were 6 volt. All used DELCO-REMY gen., strtr., and reg. Hope this helps you out.

By now you figured out that Drott made the loader, not the crawler. You've got a T 340 if it's gas or a TD 340 if diesel. The 340A models start with ser. no.5396 and up. There should be a mfgr's tag on the right top of the bellhousing, probably painted over. The A1055 ser. no. refers to your model 340k3 loader, not the tractor. I''ve got a TD 340 ser. no. 4001. Nice little machine, I enjoy working with it. Good luck, Jim

There should be small tags riveted to the starter and generator that provide ser. # and, usually, the voltage of the unit. If no tag, look for stamped info. With a ser. #, a parts store can tell you the voltage.

I have a td5, which is the predecessor to the 340. It has a 12 volt system.
