I was wondering how I could ID some old Cat dozers. I have found three; two are cable blades and one is hyd. All three are pony start. I am mainly interested in the hyd. blade dozer. I was told it was a D7. The dozer is a large four cylinder diesel and the pony has a downdraft carb. Where are ID plates at on the dozer. One of the cable dozers had a plate up near the seat but the hyd. dozer has a full cab (maybe homemade) and no plate is present. Thanks for any info.

Older cat d-7 tractors are four cylinder. The d-6 and D-8 are six cylinder.
