We have an early M. Serial number is missing but I believe it to be an early model due to the gas startup tank. The mag is weak and doesn't spark every time. I plan to remove it and check for simple things like points and dirt. If for some reason repair takes a while, would a mag from a WD work? The mag on it now is a Fairbanks-Morse RV4B.

The serial # is stamped on top of the transmission cover to the right of the gear shift. Engine ser. # is on the side of the engine block on a flat spot, don't have the book available right now and can't remember which side the engine it is on. Can't say about the mag swap. Pete

Thanks for the info on the location of the serial#. It reads "WM 6666" making it a 1937 model.

I have an early Model M also and it uses the same mag as the WD. A Farmall Mag has the same lag time. Also a distributor from a Farmall or AC will also work if you ad a battery and the coil.

I have some AC "K" models of the same vintage, They have Fairbanks Morris J series mags on them. I know that type RV mag is tough to get parts for. Especially the condensers!
