I have found a guy that will sell me his 1927 caterpillar 60. The machine is very rusty with some of the external lines rusted to nothing and the fins on the radiator crumble like potatoe chips.Other than that the machuine is sound and in great shape. He removed the rear plate and showed me the final drive area with the pto shaft? anyhow it looks like it was made yesterday no rust at all. I removed one of the valve covers and the same was true - no rust and looked new. I wanted to turn the machine over but the flywheel would not budge it has alot of the same rust on the outside as the rest of the machine. This machine was last run in the 1960's and has been under a shed roof (With front and back exposed to the weather. The man wants $2500.00 for the CAT, is this a deal or am I getting into a mess?
