I"ve just purchased a komatsu D31P. The machine appears to be in good condition with 95% U/C. However, after using the machine for about 2 hours, I noticed a substantial oil leak around the hub area of the right drive sprocket. Can anyone speculate as to what has happened? Thanks,
Tim

gatractorman has pretty much covered it. If you get into it I beleive youll need a sprocket press to pull the sprocket off of the tapered spline and press it back on again. If you need parts, give us a call and be sure to visit our website.

Final drive seal. Bad bearings possibly. The tracks aren't overly tight are they? If not, string or wire or anything that can will get wrapped up around the back side of the sprocket and will eventually work it's way into the seal and cut it out.

Thanks gatractorman and PD mechanical, that's what I suspected, a bad seal, possibly the bearing went south also.

I've had a similar thing happen to my D75S & I'm yet to pull it apart to fix it.
