I gave up with my D282 engine. I am totally frustrated with that engine, is too old now I guess and everytime I repair it for one thing then another shows up. Does anyone know what engine can be used to make an easy fit on a TD9 B crawler replacing that D282?

Hector, if I, once again decide to re-built the engine, I will need a crankshaft,a set of bearing sleeves, piston rings and gasket set. I will let you know.

George, I have the heavy press fit type sleeves and the roosamaster fuel oil pump. Any suggestion?

Thanks

Rastinge,

Why are you condeming the engine? I have rebuilt quite a few for several contractors and several for the local farmers and thought it's a preety good engine although it won't stand much overheating. Which type sleeves are in that engine flange type or the heavy press fit type? Which injector pump the IH RD pump or the roosa- master ?

Sorry to hear of your bad luck with the 282. I've got one in my TD9B Drott loader and I love it. Powerful, reliable, and good on diesel. The only problem I've ever had with it is that it's hard to start when it's under 32 deg F (I don't use ether on it). Out of curiosity what kind of trouble have you had with it?

There's a guy over on the redpower site that transplanted a 234 perkins motor into his old IH TD9 loader and he really loves it. Check out the link below.

About 20 years ago I seen a TD9 at an Oliver dealer and it had a 354 Perkins in it and that guy though it was the greatest thing since sliced bread. Looked good and he said it worked good. Also remember not all 354 Perkins are alike.
