I am considering a 1942 CAT D4 with cable lift Traxan (sp???) blade. I am not real knowledgeable of the value of the dozers because I am a Minneapolis Moline guy. My grandad knows more than me about old CATs. What would this be worth? It is rebuilt and repainted and runs really well. Thanks for the help fellas.

You need to get someone who knows about dozers to look at it. There are so many things that can be worn out that I can not list them all . If you can not find an advisor then start the tractor and dig a hole with it . Run it for about thirty minutes and look for leaks and blue smoke.Watch to oil pressure gauge and the temp guage. If the tractor is in good shape. It is not worth more than $4000.00 in the market that I live in . I am rebuilding the under carriage on a hydraulic d-4 and it will not be worth more than $5000.00 when I am done.Very few people want the manual shift dozers with pony motors any more. I am one of those old guys that love the sound of a pony motor.
