All the glass is gone from the cab of my JD backhoe. What would be a good replacement? I was thinking of maybe the plastic used in storm doors.I would like something that would be easy to cut and drill for hanging it.

If you would like it done right, contact an automotive glass repair co to come out and make templates of the openings, and save the rubber gaskets if possible. Have them put in safety glass. The plastics are going to scratch and fog over as soon as you clean them with the grit around the machine surfaces. Or if you want to be cheap, get a $2.00 roll of duct tape and some plastic film and do it up redneck style!

Polycarbonate (Lexan)would be the best choice. There are several other brands of it also... It is tough & almost impossible to break. Limbs will scratch it, & you have to be careful not to scratch it if cleaning it. Also, it will stress-crack if you get oil or fuel on it. I would advise not using Acrylic (Plexiglass), it is brittle, & will shatter at the smallest inpact....

I have a backhoe that had glass broken and missing when I got it and had my local glass man cut new safety glass windows for it. Glad I did! Nothing like the REAL THING! Dave!
