I saw a Case 350 crawler at an auction this week. Don't know anything about crawlers but always wanted one. This one didn't sell. I have the guy's number and was thinking of calling him. It is a diesel that started and ran well. The loader worked fine and the unit drove and turned ok. What is this worth and how much does it weigh? Anything special I should look for? the track and sprockets looked ok to me.

I am a fairly new owner of a crawler myself, so I am by no means an expert, but here is my $.02 worth. I purchased a '72 Case 350 diesel 2 years ago. Paid $5000, engine is tired and grousers are worn, but it does what I need it to and I don't think I would have a problem getting that back out of it, if I decide to sell. Sprockets are good on mine and I remember reading to check if the sprockets are welded on, that would make them nearly impossible to replace. Brakes seem to be a big problem on these, as there are a lot of posts about brakes, and I hear on the 450's, you probably won't find one with good brakes. Brakes on mine are shot, but it does get me around. I saw a number of 350's that had been welded on in the frame area, which I stayed away from. I think the weight on them is right around 10k lbs. The 188 diesel is plenty of power for this machine, you will loose traction way before loosing power. I can take down a 6 inch tree rather easily with mine.
