I'm trying to find out what engine is in a 320 Cat Trackhoe. All I have is the block casting number. (7JK14129) I have a blown head gasket and I don't know the torque on the head bolts. The machine is a 1994 model. Thanks for any help.

You should be able to call any CAT dealership and ask their service department to be sure. They can take the serial number off the machine and tell you what it has in it. Still I'm like Bob, I believe it has a 3116 in it although. You can also go to the Carolina CAT site and sign up and pull up the parts breakdown for your machine. It should also tell you what engine you've got and maybe you can get somewhere from there. Here is a link....Good luck

Just one more thing Jeff, If it's a 3116, look at your head gasket for a part# and buy that one. If your engine has been rebuilt it may have had the block decked and put together with a thicker head gasket. You can tell to look at them but I need one to show you. Also why did it blow the gasket??? Rad okay, fanbelt break??

Jeff, look in the cab at the serial# plate. It should have the machine serial# and arrangement # aswell as the engine model# serial# and Arrangement #. The arrangement#'s refer to your engine and all the components attached to it for your specific machine application. I am not sure if you have a Cat 3116 or a Mitsubishi Engine. If it has an Inline Injector pump it's a Mitsubishi, the 3116 has a flat valve cover and unit injectors inside.
