JD500-A TBL. The backhoe controls leak oil comming out of the top of the spool where the linkage to the clevis is. The dust boots are gone, I plan to put new O rings on the spools, do I have to take the whole unit off? Is there enought room to drop the spool down? Is there another area since I have it apart I should rebuild? This will be my first time, any suggestions will be welcomed. Thanks, Ken

If the spools are scored, there is no fixing it. It will keep on leaking. You can pull the spools from either end, but if pulling from the top, you have to take the bolt, spring and detent (if it has one) off the other end first.

Thanks for the info. I bought the o rings, if that doesnt stop it, then should I replace the spools? Or is the whole valve probably shot?

The spools were never available as a separate item. At one time, some of the valve assemblies Deere used came in sections, which you could buy. I doubt you can anymore.
