I need to replace a damaged water pump pully on my 450, (207 diesel) i have the fan off, how does the pully come off??? Is it pressed onto the water pump shaft???? Mines stuck fast!!!

Does anyone here have an extra water pump "pully" they'd part with that's still good???

Thanks for any help you may have,

Robert

have to look in book but im pretty sure it just slides on.you have to heat with a torch to expand.heat in a circle around shaft, you want to expand the pully not the shaft.its like a brake drum.file the new one a little and alway use never sieze on all parts.if you dont have a torch jucie up with wd 40 and pry one side with a screw driver and tap shaft.

Thanks, I Got It!! Now To Get The Front Crank Seal in reply to stressfree, 04-16-2005 03:04:37
Today i ordered the pully, and the parts to fix the leaking front crank seal. I'm hopeing the crank doesn't have a groove on it where the seal goes!

It sure looks like it's a pain in the butt to get the hydraulic pump out of the way!! I'll tackle that as soon as i get all the dirt and grease cleaned out and out of the way.

I've got a 450 with a 188 engine but I believe the water pump pully arrangement should be the same. Once the fan is pulled off the pully should pull straight off. It might be stuck with some paint etc but it should not be pressed in place.

I'm getting ready to pull the hydraulic pump on my loader to replace the generator belt and hydraulic inlet hose connection. I'm doing an in-frame rebuild of the engine and so I've got things pretty well apart. I'd recommend pulling the big U-shaped nose piece off. Its bolted in place with 6 or 8 bolts. Its pretty heavy. This gives good access to the radiator which comes out relativly easily. Now is a good time to replace those radiator hoses.

The pump is bolted on to a bracket that is part of the front engine mount. Pulling the pump should be just a matter of loosing the 2 hydraulic fittings (hoses) and pulling the 2 bolts that hold the pump on the bracket. I have not done it yet but probably will shortly.

Best of luck,
John

john you have to loosen the crankshaft to pump flang bolts, the 5/16" there are 4 the spline shaft wont slide.plus the 2 bolts.check the rubbers under the radiator there wore.i cut converbelt to make mounts.if your doing all that nows the time to add an alternater.

Robert,

The seal surface in on the crank pulley ,

not on the crank itself.
