Have an International Harvestor 175b crawler with a Drott 4 in 1 bucket. Where do I check the differential fluid level? Also does someone have a used teardown manual for this machine? Left track adjuster not working (seal blown) and reverse low starting to give out.

Thanks, Gary

Hector, are you saying that the long dipstick under the seat checks both the transmission and differential? Also, is there a filter for the transmission and where is it located? Do you have any manuals? Thanks,

Gary

Gary, I dont have a 175, but I do have the smaller 150, which is pretty similar to your machine. First, the transmission gears, torque converter, clutch packs, pinion and bevel gears are all in the same fluid, which is checked with the dipstick Hector mentioned. My machine uses 30W motor oil, yours probably runs similar type oil. Then there are the final drives which there are two of, one for each side. These are housings which contain a big gearset which transfers power to the sprockets (the sprockets are bolted to the shaft leading into the final drives). The final drive housings have a drain plug and a fill plug, much like an automotive differential. The drain plug is at the bottom, the fill plug is usually about midway up. You check the final fluid the same you do with an auto diff, open the fill plug and stick your finger in. The oil should basically be filled to that point. The oil type is 90W gear oil.

Your transmission should have three filters. Two reusable metal mesh filters, one is called suction filter and the other safety filter. Suction should be under the seat, safety is probably in the engine compartment (just a guess). The main filter is a large replaceable paper cartridge filter that should be located in the sheet metal housing to the left of the operator's seat. It should be a large canister looking thing tied into the powershift lever's plumbing.

I got all the original manuals I needed for my machine on ebay at great prices. You can also buy decent, but lesser quality reproductions from www dot binderbooks dot com or right here at YTB. Also, go to to the redpower site (shown below) to learn more about IH loaders/crawlers.

Good luck
