JD350B Crossbar Assembly Questions

The Crossbar on my dozer has the two outer ears almost gone/wallowed out. Is there a rebuild or clamp on repair kit available or do you need to replace the crossbar to repair this. Someone has tried to weld the crossbar to the track frame and it has since broken loose. Understand this should not be welded to the frame. Any suggestions?

Thanks
John

There is no good fix other than replacing the crossbar, or, if it's possible, build it up with weld and grind new dowel holes. Deere screwed around with the crossbar set-up dating back to the 1010 crawler. 1010s and early 350s had the crossbar bolted solid to the track-frames. It did not work well - it was too rigid and broke bolts. So, Deere changed over to "floating" track frames that are fastened by dowels in oversize holes. That stopped the breakage problem, but created a new problem of wear. It's not a very good system. It was standard procedure when doing the undercarriage on those machines to spend two days welding and grinding to tighten everything up. The 450 series kept their track-frames bolted solid to the crossbar, but everything was heavier.
