For the most part we don"t get a lot of calls for our fire dept. But in the last 2 weeks we have had 8 calls. With the dry weather and dead grass you would thing people would know better. But yesterday and older man decided to burn some trash and it got into the dry grass and then to his barn. Today 1/2 mile down the road from yesterday same thing trash-fire-grass-small barn. One of the neighbors was going by and stoped and I asked him if every one on this road takes stupid pills and he said "Some do" "see ya tomorrow". Lucky for us its raining out now.

Same situation up here in ME. The town fire chief issues permits with definite requirements. (After five, no wind, enough help etc.) If you burn without a permit and the fire gets away, you're charged for the cost of supression, but they still do it. Back in the forties half the village burned down because a guy tried to burn brush.

Same here in Michigan, there were several fires, it been real dry, and despite all the TV and radio pleas to not do any burning, some (stupid) people still burn their trash anyways. We did get some rain a couple days ago, and cooled off, it helped a lot, but they are still saying not to burn.
