Isn't that shaft drilled and tapped so you can thread a bolt into it? I think I've pulled stuck shafts out in 450s by either bolting a chain to it and pulling with something, or rigging a puller to it.

I believe on the 450"s you need to remove a plug above this quill shaft on the outer side of the tractor (just above the track) I think with a 3/4 drive ratchet and behind this plug you will find a set screw that sets the shaft to the gear. You may need to turn the sprocket to get the set screw to line up with the hole so you can remove it. I also believe there may be a ball under the set screw. Oncew this is removed, the shaft should slide right out. (If not a slide hammer will make short work of it.)
