I think a two-cylinder John Deere 1010 diesel would be worth a lot if it really exists - I'd like to see one (but, don't think I will). Deere did make a couple of four cylinder 1010s - gas and diesel - but they are four cylinders. You sure you're not looking at a 440 with a 2 cylinder Detroit Diesel 2-53?

It is likely a 440ICD, if the blade is a power 6-way, it is a #64, if manual 6 way, then it is a #63.
440ICD serial number will be on the dash.

1010s were not made with ANY two cylinder engines, but the 1010 four cylinder engines have the same bolt pattern as the older two cylinder gas engines - like the 420, 440, etc. I don't know if the Detroit 2-53 has the same bolt pattern as the two cylinder gas engine or not. Either way, if there exists a 1010 with a two cylinder engine, it is home-made. And yes, there were 440s with 6 way blades, also came on the older 420s - Deere called it a "high blade." What kind of transmission and/or reverser does the machine have? 1010 used the same hydraulic reverser as on the later 350. The 440 did NOT use it; it came with a totally different assembly that has wet mechancial "over-center" clutches, not hydraulic.

it is a reverser i believe. all the shifting controls are on the dash panel. also the one on the left of the panel to make it go in reverse. i noticed the front idlers are loose with some slop in the bearings. the blade lifts clear up to the top of the hood. any idea on price guy said i could have it for $750.00
