hi all, i am from the uk and am doing up a 450b, love the machine but it won"t turn to the left, the brake works but it won"t turn, is it a case of adjustment as there is no restriction on the lever until the brake engages or something more serious?

There is a definite adjustment procedure for the brake and clutch assembly. The adjustment procedure is pretty much the same for all the small machines. Basically, you need to set things up so that the first part of the lever movement disengages the clutch. The last part of the lever movement applies the braking action. If the clutch does not disengage, the axle is still being driven and it is unlikely that the brake will work.
We have a manual for an old 420 somewhere in our service library. If you send me your email address, I will send you the procedure from the book.

Were you able to find the info on that clutch adjust? We are working on a side hill that gets slippery as hell when you don't have a clutch/brake available.

My email is liquidsands@msn.com

I would appreciate amything you could send as procedure and adjustment specs for the JD 450B crawler (1974 year).
Tahnks,
John Wells
